Technology is great as long as its not misused. The new police dashboard software made by Microsoft has promise, but its made by that guy that wants to sterilize everybody with vaccines.

“The dashboard,” instantaneously mines data from the NYPD’s vast collection of arrest records, emergency 911 calls, more than 3,000 security cameras, license plate readers and portable radiation detectors and aggregates it into a user-friendly, readable form in the control room.
Eventually, that data will be able to be seen in real time by officers on laptops in their squad cars and on mobile devices as they walk their beat.
There isn’t any competitive bidding mentioned in the article. Why isn’t Oracle or Apple or some other company asked to bid on the project? That would at least help control prices on these systems. Not necessary. All Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer has to do is call Bloomberg and smooze awhile to get the business. Larry Ellison must be out on his yacht these days, having too much fun to care.
